11-Year-Old Boy Killed, Four Children Injured After Tree Crushes School Bus in Mumbai's Chembur

An 11-year-old boy lost his life and four other children were injured after a large tree collapsed onto a school bus in Mumbai's Chembur. Residents alleged they had repeatedly warned the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation about dangerous trees, while the India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms across the city.

A tragic accident claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy and left four other children injured after a large tree collapsed onto a school bus in Mumbai's Chembur on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred on Road No. 11 while 12 children were travelling on the vehicle, triggering panic and an immediate rescue operation.

According to officials, the bus conductor and local residents acted swiftly to rescue the children trapped inside the damaged bus before the Mumbai Fire Brigade reached the location. Their prompt response helped evacuate all the students from the wreckage.

Five students were rushed to the nearby Zen Hospital for emergency treatment. Among them, 11-year-old Vihan Shrivastav suffered severe critical injuries and was declared dead. The on-duty medical officer at Zen Hospital confirmed that the remaining four injured children sustained minor injuries and are currently in stable condition.

Following the incident, local residents alleged that they had repeatedly submitted written complaints to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, requesting that trees in the area be trimmed or cleared. They claimed that a similar incident had occurred in the locality earlier and alleged that no action was taken despite multiple warnings.
